Celebrating 25 years of Transforming Lives for Children and Young People with Disabilities

Credo Care Fostering, a specialist fostering agency dedicated to supporting children and young people with additional needs and disabilities, is proud to mark its 25th anniversary. Since opening its doors in 2000, the agency has worked tirelessly to find safe, loving family homes for children with complex medical needs, life limiting conditions, and other significant challenges – many experiencing the joys of a family home for the very first time.

Over the past 25 years, Credo Care Fostering has grown from a pioneering service into a trusted leader operating across the southern, eastern and midlands regions of the UK. The agency has placed hundreds of children and young people into nurturing family environments, often transitioning them from residential, hospital, or hospice care into homes where they can thrive emotionally, socially, and physically.

“For many of the children, this is their first experience of being truly part of a family,” said Richard Powell, Managing Director of Credo Care Fostering. “It’s a privilege to walk alongside them on that journey and to witness their resilience, joy and growth. Our foster carers are remarkable people who open their hearts and homes in ways that transform lives.”

The fostering sector has seen significant changes since 2000, and Credo Care Fostering has continually evolved in line with new regulations, best practice standards, and the unique needs of the foster families it serves. This adaptability has ensured the agency remains at the forefront of specialist disability fostering, providing foster carers and support workers with the training, resources, and support they need to meet complex care needs.

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, the agency looks to recruit new foster families to increase the number of children and young people they can support.

Looking ahead, Credo Care Fostering remains committed to its mission: ensuring that every child with additional needs has the chance to thrive in a safe, stable and loving family environment.

About Credo Care Fostering:
Credo Care Fostering is an independent fostering provider specialising in the care of children with disabilities, complex medical needs and life limiting conditions.

Established in 2000, the agency works with local authorities across the country to provide stable, professional, long-term foster placements for children with additional needs.
The goal is to raise the standards of disability care for children, reduce the financial burden of long-term residential and hospice care on local authorities, and to ensure becoming foster carers is a positive experience.

The organisation operates across the South, Midlands and Eastern regions of the UK and has been awarded the Ofsted status of “Good” in 2023. They were also the first fostering provider in the UK to gain the National Autistic Society’s accreditation and remain a leader in the field of specialist disability fostering.
