On Saturday, May 4th, 2024, a touching moment unfolded before the XXXII Diocesan Synod. The Very Revd Dr Jonathan Munn, a Fellow and Faculty member of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi Christian University in Miami, Florida, bestowed upon Credo Care Fostering’s Director, Roy Hipkiss the esteemed Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. This recognition was a testament to Roy’s unwavering dedication to young people with additional needs in the care system, a commitment that has spanned many years.

As he accepted the honour, Dr. Hipkiss expressed deep humility and gratitude, stating that he felt unworthy of such recognition. However, he attributed his inspiration to the early influences of his family and education, where the needs of disabled children were always emphasised. He considered the establishment of Credo Care Fostering Limited to be the greatest achievement of his life. Recognising that the agency’s success was a collective effort, he acknowledged the tireless commitment, dedication, and love exhibited by the foster carers, staff, and child care professionals who worked tirelessly to support the children and young people under their care. In accepting the award, Dr. Hipkiss dedicated it to them, expressing profound appreciation and gratitude for their invaluable contributions. His words highlighted the collaborative nature of Credo Care’s work and served as a poignant reminder of the powerful impact that individuals can have when they work together.
